The Nursery Rhyme we focused on today was Mary Had a Little Lamb. The students worked on projects which practiced the skills of counting by 10's, alphabet order, and cutting.
Tomorrow is our Nursery Rhyme Dress-Up Day. Choose a favorite nursery rhyme and bring a prop or part of a costume that helps show what nursery rhyme you picked!
Ella's mom came and worked with the students on alphabet recognition and sounds. Thank you! The students love that special attention that volunteers are able to give them. If you would like to add your name to our volunteer schedule, please contact me.
In art, the students continued working on their magic carpets. They are nearly complete!
We watched a short video called, What is a Scientist? this morning. The students learned the importance of thinking like a scientist. They also learned about the scientific method, a step-by-step way of thinking to solve problems or answer questions. Here are the steps of the scientific method that were introduced in the video: (1) ask a question, (2) make a hypothesis--what you think will happen, (3) choose a variable--one thing that will change in your test, (4) test your hypothesis, (5) write down what happened using words, graphs, or pictures, (6) tell others what you discover.
Calling all scientists!!! We are always looking for new science investigations to do in our classroom! If you have an idea (or would like to lead a science investigation with the students), please let me know!
